UPDATE: Phoenix police announced an arrest was made in this case on December 29. The alleged suspect, 18-year-old Jvion Gadson-Scott, was booked for first-degree murder, aggravated assault, burglary in the first-degree , and weapons violations.
PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating a home invasion that led to a deadly double shooting overnight. Officers were called to a home near 83rd Avenue and Broadway Road around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday for a reported shooting. When officers arrived, they learned two adults had been shot by unknown suspects who fled the scene.Police say a woman was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. The woman has been identified by police as 19-year-old Destiny Hernandez.Crime scene tape still surrounded a home more than 12 hours after the shooting.
"I was scared," said one neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous."I thought somebody was trying to break into my house."Neighbors we spoke with about the shooting were left shaken.She said she thought she heard more than eight shots."Then I just heard a car take off and five minutes later the cops were here," said the neighbor.
They would only say there were multiple people inside the home when the shooting happened but wouldn't say how many.
