A man died, and a woman was hospitalized due to an apartment fire in northwest Houston, according to the Houston Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the 5300 block of Deep Forest Drive at approximately 12:24 a.m. regarding aWhen first responders arrived, they saw fire coming from an apartment on the first floor and an apartment on the second floor.The woman was able to get out of the apartment with her two grandchildren, and the man was rescued out of the home.The woman had injuries from smoke inhalation and minor injuries.
