Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The most shocking shonen anime betrayals no one saw coming are just as devastating now as they were when they first aired. There’s nothing more gut-wrenching than realizing trust has been broken, and the actions of these traitors tear apart friendships, teams, and families alike.
There’s no greater betrayal than the one that comes from one’s own family. To everyone he meets, including the unsuspecting Elric brothers, Shou Tucker is a brilliant alchemist and loving father to his daughter Nina. But, as they discover too late, it’s all an act: under the surface, Shou is a cold, calculating, and self-centered man who is determined to succeed at any cost.
All three of the main trio are revealed to secretly be leaders of the district’s most prominent gangs, and all of them find this out about each other at the most inopportune times. Namie and Mika are both misleading Seiji as to the location of Celty's head for their own purposes.
Somehow, Ash manages to find a few more of his Fire types in similar situations, but none of their Trainers’ treatment of them was quite as life-threatening as Damian’s. This only makes Ash’s steadfast devotion to his Pokémon stand out even more in comparison: even though Charizard’s rebellious phase cost Ash some important victories, he doesn’t hesitate to risk his life to save it again, reminding Charizard how Ash earned its respect in the first place.
What's worse, Maverick didn't even try to earn Barnaby’s loyalty at all, but simply rewrote his memories to make him believe Maverick raised him. Upon uncovering Maverick’s plans for himself, an adult Barnaby not only gets smacked with that reveal, but has his memories erased yet again so Maverick can keep using him as a pawn.
