A 12-year-old boy and his 89-year-old grandmother were attacked by two pit bulls at a home in Golden Wednesday afternoon.
Around 3:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 15000 block of West 1st Ave. for a report of an animal bite.
When officers arrived, they found a trail of blood leading into the home. Officers ran to the backyard, saw two pit bulls attacking the woman and put themselves between the dogs and the woman, according to Golden police. Additional officers arrived and were able to hold off the dogs while the woman was rescued from the backyard. She was taken to St. Anthony's Hospital with critical injuries.
