13-year-old boys go missing from water near Pleasure Pier in Galveston, officials say
Visiters spend Memorial Day Weekend on the beach near Pleasure Pier on Sunday, May 26, 2019, in Galveston.Twin boys went missing in the water near Pleasure Pier on Sunday afternoon, according to officials.
The 13-year-olds were last seen on the west side of the pier around 4:30 p.m. A family member called 9-1-1 around 5:30 p.m. to report them missing, according to the Galveston Island Beach Patrol.Beach Patrol along with police, fire and EMS searched the area. The Coast Guard led an overhead search of the area late Sunday and shoreline searches continued throughout the night.The Galveston Island Beach Patrol reminds beach-goers to stay away from piers of jetties when in the water, and swim near a lifeguard.
