I’m very happy with my life now. I’ll give you a typical example. I have a place in Texas now. I rescued a tom turkey — his name is Phillip — a couple months ago. I have some chickens, and Phillip needed a mate because he was trying to mate with the poor little chickens, so a female turkey named Elizabeth came the other day, and she’s just beautiful. So I was out playing with her this morning. And then my chicken Henrietta had little babies. She has four chicks.
That’s where Cookie came in great, because she was sexy, but she had a little bit of a speech impediment, too, which threw people off. She was unashamed about that. My favorite image of Cookie ever was later, when she lived in New York, before she would go out at night: She didn’t have time to make coffee, so she’d put a line of instant coffee out and snort it.
