Two Chicago police were arrested and stripped of their powers following an incident where they allegedly fled from fellow officers.
Mehrhoff, a 4-year veteran, was charged with two misdemeanors, fleeing/attempt elude officer and reckless driving, along with traffic citations for disobeying red circular steady signal stop.Cruz was arrested by police in the 700 block of South Clark Street just after 7 a.m. Sunday, but Mehrhoff was arrested hours later at the Harrison District police station on the West Side.
Neither officer could be reached for comment. The Chicago Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7, which represents most of the department’s ranking officers declined to comment on Monday.
