Big and tall isn't the only way to make a great pickup. Small, efficient, and affordable can be pretty great too.

Everything in this broad category has grown larger, from the heavy-duty 'one-ton' trucks at the top to the 'half-ton' trucks in the middle on down to the 'compact' trucks at the bottom. The fact that these monikers appear laughable today only underscores the point.
The smoother ride, lighter weight, and inherently better fuel economy on offer were bound to—dare we say—cross over to the pickup segment.The Maverick employs a stretched-wheelbase version of the unibody platform that underpins the Bronco Sport and the Escape. Its interior is uniquely designed with unashamed hard plastics styled in interesting ways. It is available only as a crew cab, but because it's a true compact, few should bemoan the back seat's somewhat tight dimensions.
