“And while we are so grateful to have the opportunity to improve the lives of these animals, it does not come without challenges,” ACAPL said. “Our census and cost per animal is overwhelming right now, which is where you can lend a paw!”
ASHTABULA, Ohio - A total of 38 animals - 26 dogs and 12 cats - were taken from a single trailer to the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League ’s care.
“Understanding it was in the best interest of the animals, the owner voluntarily surrendered all of the animals on site,” ACAPL stated.Numerous animals are in need of medical attention, like this cat who contracted a skin condition that caused them to lose half of their fur:Gonia-Glauser confirmed all animals are expected to survive and make a full recovery.
“Shelters are so overwhelmed and these stories are unfortunately more common,” according to Gonia-Glauser. However, there are bursting with animals who are ready to be adopted, including their longest resident, a nearly 3-year-old mix named Pugsly who has spent a third of his life in their care.
