Los Angeles police officers responded to a report of three crosses set on fire at 5 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, at the Sylmar Christian Fellowship Church and are investigating the vandalism as a possible hate crime.
“It’s a shame people still want to do something like this,” said Pierre Howard, a pastor at the church at 13901 Polk St.The church’s surveillance video has not helped much in identifying the suspects, the pastor said. The cross burnings might have been done by someone who just made a bad decision, Howard said: “I hope that’s what it is.”
