‘I’d like to think we were a part of opening people’s minds at least’ Jackass Forever star talks about why middle-aged stuntmen might be needed now more than ever
Jackass Forever star Chris Pontius poses fully clothed at the movie's premiere. Raised on a small ranch just outside San Luis Obispo, teen Chris would spend his days using parking structures and sidewalk features as his skateboarding playground; all while not fitting in with the progeny of white-collar exurban types or the 4-H kids dangling their Justin boots off the backs of tailgates.
Pontius debuted in Big Brother’s second issue doing a relatively pedestrian rail slide. By issue number eight, he was the subject of a long-form interview, accompanied by a nude photo spread . In the next issue, he had his first byline, an article entitled, “18 ways to be an asshole.” During an October 2020 episode of"Steve-O’s Wild Ride" podcast, Pontius and eponymous host Steve-O swapped stories from their Big Brother days. “When Big Brother started, skateboarding was in a different place,” Pontius said. “You couldn’t have Jackass without Big Brother…They brought together all these weird people that weren’t necessarily pro skaters but involved in the skateboard world. Big Brother gave them a platform.
