A man was stabbed in the neck by a stranger before alerting officers on Chicago's Magnificent Mile to his injuries, police said. The 36-year-old later died.
A 36-year-old man was fatally stabbed just blocks away from Chicago’s Magnificent Mile Tuesday evening and authorities are searching for the person who attacked him, police said.
The 36-year-old had gotten into a physical fight with a person he didn’t know near the intersection of Dearborn and Ohio streets, in the Near North neighborhood, around 7:45 p.m., police said. During their struggle, the stranger apparently drew a sharp object and slashed the 36-year-old in his neck, although police did not provide information as to what the pair had been fighting about.
Authorities did not say whether the 36-yeaar-old had gone to Michigan Avenue looking for help or if he had also tried calling 911. No motive for the fight and subsequent stabbing had been released Wednesday morning.Paramedics arrived and took the man to nearby Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office had not identified the man who was killed as of Wednesday morning.
