Just in time for Halloween, Apple unveiled its “Scary Fast” event and boy, was it packed with surprises including powerful chips and new laptops. In case you missed the online show, we have compiled here four of the most exciting takeaways from the evening.Three CPUs with never-before-seen technologies—the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max— were unveiled by Apple.

“Apple silicon has completely redefined the Mac experience. Every aspect of its architecture is designed for performance and power efficiency,” said Johny Srouji, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Technologies. “With 3-nanometer technology, a next-generation GPU architecture, a higher-performance CPU, faster Neural Engine, and support for even more unified memory, M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max are the most advanced chips ever built for a personal computer.

“There is nothing quite like MacBook Pro. With the remarkable power-efficient performance of Apple silicon, up to 22 hours of battery life, a stunning Liquid Retina XDR display, and advanced connectivity, MacBook Pro empowers users to do their life’s best work,” said John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice president of Hardware Engineering.Apple has developed an absolutely gorgeous yet still spooky new color called space black for its MacBook Pro models.

The MacBook Pro is also devoid of a number of dangerous materials, including mercury, brominated flame retardants, and beryllium. The packaging's wood fibre content is sourced from responsibly managed forests or is recycled. Finally, it achieves the longest battery life of any Mac product in history: up to 22 hours. As a result, it uses significantly less energy overall in its lifetime.
