Here are four things to watch at the Fed's policy meeting this week.
The Federal Reserve is not expected to change the stance of its interest-rate policy or say anything definitive about its near-term outlook at this week’s policy meeting. But Fed watchers know where to look for subtle hints about the Fed’s thinking regarding the outlook for the economy and interest rates. Most of the focus will be on the Fed’s economic forecast, known as the Summary of Economic Projections.
“If that were to occur, it would be a significant hawkish surprise for markets,” Bhave said in a research note. “We think Powell will characterize this more as a split vote than a clear bias to hike further, keeping market pricing around 50-50,” Guha said in a note to clients.
