A 19-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were among five people killed by gunfire over the weekend across Chicago.
The weekend’s first homicide occurred around 4 a.m. Saturday when a 22-year-old woman was fatally shot in the 9600 block of South Perry Avenue. Police said she was walking on a sidewalk in that area when someone fired shots, striking her in the back of the head. She was pronounced dead deceased on scene.
Less than an hour later, at around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, a 40-year-old man was shot multiple times in the 1600 block of North Parkside Avenue. He was rushed to the Loyola University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. A 19-year-old man was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in the 1500 block of South Homan Avenue. Police said he was walking down the street at around 3 p.m. Sunday when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, striking the man multiple times. He was later pronounced dead.
