A 6-year-old boy who was critically injured in a crash during a funeral procession Thursday afternoon has died, Akron police said. Tymar Allen, 12, of Akron, was also killed in the crash.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A 6-year-old boy who was critically injured in a crash during a funeral procession Thursday afternoon has died, Akron police said.
Officials have not yet publicly identified the boy in the incident that happened just before 3 p.m. on Arlington Street near Sixth Avenue, according to police and the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office. The boy was pronounced dead at Akron Children’s Hospital Friday night. Tymar Allen, 12, of Akron also was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead Thursday.
Two vehicles crashed during the funeral procession, ejecting both Allen and the 6-year-old boy. There was at least one gunshot fired after the crash. Police say a male driver of an Impala involved in the crash ran from the scene. No other injuries were reported.there was a fight after the crash and at least one shot was fired. Shortly after the crash, a 19-year-old man arrived at Summa Health System-Akron Campus with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Investigators are working to determine the teen’s connection with the incident.
