SANTA CRUZ — Police have arrested a 61-year-old Santa Cruz man suspected of assaulting a city parks worker early this month.
An officer spotted Nathan Lembo driving shortly before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Mission and Water streets. He later was tracked to the parking lot behind Holy Cross School’s gymnasium on Emmett Street, according to a Santa Cruz Police Department social media update posted Wednesday and county inmate logs.that left a Santa Cruz City Parks and Recreation Department employee recovering from injuries not expected to be life-threatening, according to police.
During Lembo’s arrest, officers allegedly located a loaded handgun in his vehicle’s center console and ammunition in the vehicle, as well as two loaded magazines and brass knuckles they said he was carrying. Officers also allegedly found evidence that Lembo had been practicing drawing his handgun from his waistband and pointing the firearm toward a public roadway.
