A new NOAA report has found that 2023 is on a near-record pace for billion-dollar disasters in the U.S.:
A rash of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes swept through parts of the Southern Plains, Southeast and Ohio Valley
, including Rolling Fork, Silver City, Tchula, Winona and Amory, Mississippi, claiming 21 lives in Mississippi and another in Alabama. An EF3 tornado ripped through parts of Troup County, Georgia. Damaging winds also swept through parts of Ohio, western Pennsylvania and West Virginia.At least 145 tornadoes, along with damaging thunderstorm winds, tore through large swaths of the Midwest, Tennessee Valley and East from March 31 through April 1.
