7 places to get an alcoholic drink to go at the airport

La Fruteria and La Gloria were the first places to be approved; several others got involved in the following months. Currently Vino Volo is the only vendor that sells alcohol at the airport that has not applied to be part of the program. Each alcoholic beverage that a customer walks away with has to be a sealed with a lid and have one of the airport’s bright pink-and-yellow stickers on it. This makes it easy for gate agents to spot the drinks and ask customers to either finish or toss them before boarding. Pysher said the stickers were tested to make sure that people can’t easily peel them off.
Though increasing sales was not the driving force behind the new program, Pysher said that the airport expects to see a 16 percent increase in revenue from alcohol sales once the program runs for a year. That’s what she said some other airports have seen when implementing similar policies.
