Every way that Star Wars has expanded Order 66, its lore, characters, and purpose since Revenge of the Sith premiered.

Order 66 was the climax of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, and naturally the franchise has continued to develop it substantially since the movie's release. The Clone Wars were the perfect Jedi trap, deliberately engineered by Palpatine as a no-win scenario for the Jedi. Order 66 is best viewed as Palpatine's masterstroke, a single act of treachery that left the Jedi all but extinct. The few Jedi to survive were hunted across the galaxy by Darth Vader and his Inquisitors.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT 7 Introduction of Clone Inhibitor Chips One of the big criticisms of Revenge of the Sith was that the clones willingly killed their Jedi commanders and generals. This was later explained in Star Wars: The Clone Wars when it was revealed that all clones had an inhibitor chip implanted in their brains that when activated had them kill the Jedi.

5 Ahsoka Tano’s Order 66 Experience Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7, which debuted in 2020, finally revealed how Anakin Skywalker's former Padawan Ahsoka Tano survived Order 66. Ahsoka forged an alliance with Bo-Katan Kryze, and led Republic forces in a campaign to liberate Mandalore from Darth Maul. She was supported by Captain Rex, who led the 332nd Division on the mission.

3 Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Message To The Jedi In Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi says that he was going to change the message that was being sent out by the Jedi temple, which was calling other Jedi back. This message was not heard in the film but was shown in one of the first episodes of Star Wars Rebels when Ezra Bridger finds Kanan Jarrus’ Jedi Holocron.
