UPDATE: A missing 93-year-old Berthoud man, identified Wednesday by Larimer County authorities as endangered, was spotted Thursday using a credit card to buy gas in Englewood in south metro Denver.
Steffen failed to return home Wednesday after a trip to the Loveland Public Library, according to the sheriff’s office. He was driving a light blue 2007 Toyota Matrix sedan Colorado license plate 902 PEU. The car was seen about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on Berthoud Parkway at County Road 24.
Steffen was wearing a blue L.L. Bean jacket, dark green wool shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes. He is 5’10” tall and weighs 165 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. The authorities described Steffen as having memory and cognitive challenges. His family fears that he may be lost.
