A tweet laying out all of Donald Trump’s baggage from Never Back Down, the top Ron DeSantis-aligned super PAC, proved politically disastrous—with notable conservatives claiming that it spoke to DeSantis’s duplicitous nature.
“That post was a massive mistake,” one DeSantis ally told the outlet. “It sounded like it came from CNN, and I think people inside realized that that was a massive mistake, and I hope it won’t be repeated again.” Another DeSantis source told Semafor that the post was published without the consent of Never Back Down’s communications brain trust.
