HFD: Person trapped in trench in northeast Houston
A man was taken to the hospital on Monday afternoon after being trapped in a collapsed trench in northeast Houston, according to the Houston Fire Department.
Rescuers were on the scene in 10000 black of North Loop East because of a report of a trapped person, according to a tweet sent just after 3:30 p.m. The man was working on a utility line in a trench when it collapsed, according to the fire department. The trench was about 8 feet deep. The man was alert, oriented and conscious after the collapse, according to the fire department. He was out of the ditch by 4:35 p.m.
Update: Civilian has been extricated from the trench. He is currently being transported to a local hospital.
