Taking time to work out when everyone -- including the kids -- is stuck at home, can be tough. One trainer's tips for embracing working out at home with the kids and still getting some me time:
To be totally honest, I’ve always tried to avoid working out when the kids are at home. My workout has always been my “me time” – it’s my chance to recharge and get some endorphins going. When the kids are around, they’re always in the back of my mind and I’m on alert for interruptions or disaster to strike, so I can’t really zone out and get the most out of my workout.
I know many of you are in the same boat, so I wanted to share some strategies for getting in a workout when you’re home with the kids!. The truth is that at first, it may be more challenging to carve out 30 minutes for a full workout. Instead, split it into three 10-minute sections throughout the day. When the kids are more used to it, you can add in time. A couple of years ago, I was lucky to get in a 10-minute workout outside while they were playing.
