As the violence continues to unfold in Ukraine, a North Texas man who was born in Kyiv is preparing to return home to help defend his country.

DALLAS — The latest update from the United Nations reports more than 1,400 civilian deaths since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February. The UN Human Rights Office of the High Commission expects the death toll of innocent lives to rise sharply as Ukrainian troops begin to recapture areas once overtaken by Russian troops.
