The newest horror movie from A24, Talk To Me, is on track to becoming one of the studio’s best performers in the genre ever at the box office.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Talk To Me, the new movie from A24, is on track to become one of the studio's highest-grossing horror movies ever at the box office. Directed by Danny and Michael Philippou, Talk To Me follows a group of friends who discover how to use an embalmed hand to summon spirits. The film has been a major success critically and commercially, with a sequel already in the works.
As Talk To Me's box office performance continues to impress, analyst Luiz Fernando on Twitter shares that the film made $5.1 million in its third weekend domestically, showing great legs and putting it on track to become one of A24's best-performing horror movies. As Fernando reports, the film, which is budgeted at $4.5 million, is eyeing a domestic run between $45 and $50 million. This means it will likely beat The Witch and Midsommar's worldwide totals, and will likely also beat Hereditary's domestic total of $44 million.
How Will Talk To Me Compare To Other A24 Horror Movies? Ari Aster's Hereditary is currently A24's highest-grossing horror movie ever, with a worldwide total of about $81.3 million. In second place is Midsommar, also an Aster film, with $46.7 million earned worldwide, $27.4 million of which came from North America. Robert Eggers' The Witch is in third place with $40.4 million worldwide and $25.1 million domestic.
While Talk To Me is still going strong in North America and is on track to beat Hereditary domestically, it's international performance will likely be what holds it back from surpassing Aster's film worldwide. The Philippou brothers' new movie then, will seemingly end its run as A24's second highest-grossing horror movie ever, making it no surprise why the studio has already given the green light to sequel Talk 2 Me.
