Former congressman and Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke will advance to the general election for Texas governor after winning the Democratic primary, according to the AP
AUSTIN, Texas—Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and former Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke won their respective primaries Tuesday, setting up a high profile race for governor, according to the Associated Press.
Mr. Abbott, who is seeking a third term, and Mr. O’Rourke were favorites in Tuesday’s primaries, the first of the 2022 midterm elections. The elections will also decide many of the matchups for statewide offices and the state’s 38 congressional districts. Several contests are being closely watched for what they say about the state of the Democratic and Republican parties as they vie for control of Congress.
