Your WRTV Storm Team forecast for Central Indiana: Tracking a large warm-up coming to the Hoosier state midweek.
A fantastic end to the weekend as skies were sunny over central Indiana and temperatures climbed in to the middle and upper 50°s. Indianapolis topped out at 58° - the warmest for the date in five years. This continues a warm February where the capital city is running 7° above normal per day even with only 44% possible sunshine.
A series of cold fronts will pass through central Indiana dropping temperatures through Tuesday, however temperatures will remain above normal both Monday and Tuesday. Highs will return to the middle 50°s Monday and in the upper 40°s Tuesday. A warm front will move north in to the state Wednesday. Along the front, showers and thunderstorms will develop. The front should clear north of central Indiana by late afternoon allowing temperatures to climb in to the upper 50°s to middle 60°s. Winds will also be on the increase through the day. Showers and thunderstorms look likely by Wednesday evening.
Rain should move out of central Indiana Thursday morning. Behind the rain, gusty winds will shift around to the west ahead of the next push of cold air. Before the cold air arrives, temperatures will surge 20° to 30° above normal Thursday afternoon. Colder air looks to move in to the Hoosier state for the end of the work week. In fact, this could lead to just the second day of below normal temperatures this month. Stay tuned!Monday: Partly cloudy morning. Clearing for early afternoon.
