Actress America Ferrera joins San Antonio activists, politicians to get out the Latina vote ahead of midterm election
SAN ANTONIO — ,Actress America Ferrera made an appearance in San Antonio this weekend with local activists and politicians in an effort to get out the Latino vote ahead of the midterm election.
Ferrera, known for her role in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, co-founded Poderistas, a digital community built to celebrate Hispanic culture and help Latinas harness their power. District 5 Councilwoman Teri Castillo and Rosie Castro, local civil rights activist and mother to politicians Julian and Joaquin Castro, joined the party Saturday afternoon.

The festivities began at El Camino Friday evening, where MTV Entertainment co-hosted a party spotlighting Latina-ownedOn Saturday, actress Ferrera joined others, including Castillo, for a community discussion about Latina civic engagement. They also hosted a workshop to provide information about voter registration and voting early.
