I have taught women & gender studies at Oregon State University since 1996, including a course on gender, race & sports. Before this, I taught religious studies for 8 years at liberal arts colleges. I’ve served on OSU’s athletics committee and was the Faculty Athletics Representative at one of the liberal arts colleges.

Student-athletes need to consider that NIL income are taxable which is typically not something that they have had to consider previously with scholarships or cost of attendance because it is considered financial aid which is not taxable. Not only are NIL and Alson income taxable but typically taxes are NOT withheld or deducted from these income sources.
