“The tennis all-star competition has become one of the most popular all-star events at All-Star Sports Week each summer,” said Brandon Dean, the director of the Alabama High School Athletic Directors & Coaches Association.
The North All-Star girls coaches are Amanda Whitmore of Decatur and Brian Peirano of Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa. Sue Marshall of Randolph High School will serve as the administrative coach for both the North boys and girls teams.
The North boys coaches are Michael Higginbotham of Hewitt-Trussville and Brad Armstrong of Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa.Some of the top performers selected for the boys North All-Stars are 7A state champion Vestavia Hills’ No. 1 doubles champion James Anthony, Hoover’s No. 1 singles runner-up Samuel Sellers and his teammate No. 3 singles runner-up and No. 1 doubles runner-up Gavin Patton. No. 2 7A singles runner-up Evan Williams of Huntsville was also chosen for the North squad.
The North girls team includes No. 3 doubles champ Nancy Chen of 7A state champ Vestavia Hills, No. 2 singles runner-up Stella Stephens of Huntsville, who was also on the No. 1 doubles runner-up, and Class 6A No. 5 singles runner Vivi Blakely of Decatur.
