The Alabama Attorney General’s office is investigating the Alabama Pharmacy Board.

“Credible allegations have been made about the handling of this matter by employees of the State Board of Pharmacy, which are now under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office,” said the state order.

The Alabama Pharmacy Board did not respond to a request for comment Thursday, and the office of the Attorney General declined to comment on its ongoing investigation.of illegal distribution of a controlled substance, hydrocodone, and one count of money laundering. East’s attorney, Jamie Moncus, said federal law requires the pharmacy, not the pharmacist, to get approval to seek clearance for a pharmacist to return to work in such situations.

Moncus said the pharmacy board called East names. “Their prosecution of seemed to be more motivated by personal animus than adherence to any law or rule, and that was very disturbing.”
