“We don’t want this game to define us,” Alabama coach Wes Hart said. “I was proud of the effort we gave. We kept fighting and kept battling and competing.”
A program a year removed from its first NCAA tournament win, the Crimson Tide’s season ended a game short of a title. UCLA ended the run with a 3-0win over Alabama in the NCAA semifinal.
This was a Crimson Tide team that averaged 20.3 shots and 2.92 goals a game but couldn’t manage that level of production against the Bruins. UCLA outshot the Tide, 20-11 including 11-7 in shots on goal. The Tide had its chances. It appeared to break a scoreless first-half tie with a ball Riley Mattingly Parker headed into the net. The celebration was brief as offside was the call.
“They scored some absolute bangers,” Parker said. “Props to them. Two of these were unassisted. I mean, they were filthy. Literally, upper 90. What are you talking about?”
