Alex Cobb was placed on the 15-day injured list before Wednesday’s game, effectively ending his regular season.
PHOENIX — The only thing Alex Cobb will regret about this season is how it ended.
But Tuesday night? Forced from his pivotal start against the D-backs in the third inning, unable to grind through his impinged hip any longer?He was placed on the injured list Wednesday, ruling him out for the remainder of the regular season. Should the Giants make the postseason, Cobb would potentially be an option, but those are increasingly long odds after dropping four of their past five and, now, without their No. 2 starter.
Before Cobb took a seat in the visitor’s dugout and discussed the end of his season with reporters, he met with Kapler, who said he told him that he was “very grateful for how he sacrificed his body for us.”
