A California man accused of attacking police in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol is seeking asylum in Belarus, a state broadcaster reports.

A committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection has issued subpoenas to six more associates of former President Trump.

Neumann is one of more than 650 people who have been charged for their actions on Jan. 6, when the pro-Trump moband delayed Congress’ certification of Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory. Belarusian border guards detained Neumann when he tried to cross into the country in mid-August, and he requested asylum. Belarus doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the U.S.
