Amazon plans to double base pay cap but employees are skeptical it'll stop the company's attrition woes: 'Talk is cheap'
Several people say Amazon has also been more actively matching poaching offers from other companies — internally called"dive and saves" — in order to prevent the loss of talent in recent years. Still, one person said, managers are frustrated because Amazon's matching offers have a slower stock vesting schedule than its peers, namely Facebook and Google.
A former Amazon recruiter said they were"pleasantly surprised" the company had taken such a decisive step to raise compensation, speculating the move could prompt some employees of Facebook parent company Meta to move to Amazon amidin Meta's share price last week. One current AWS employee said the change is an"overall good move" by Amazon and that their team now expects to be able to poach several Facebook employees this year.
