I went into a vanity spiral. I booked a fancy facial with a fancy facialist in a fancy loft downtown where various serums and lotions were massaged into my face over 90 minutes. “This is placenta cream—for anti-aging,” she said, her soothing voice like a lullaby in the all-white room.
