Last June, Sandoval, 47, gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Isadora, conceived by in vitro fertilization. “On top of being a mom, it’s a lot more responsibility. I welcome it. But I also want to give it its proper attention, and I just don’t think I could do that very well in the next four months, continuing in this role — or that I could be a very good council person.”
