The first-year NWSL player has been called in to replace injured Mallory Swanson in friendly Tuesday in St. Louis.
Angel City FC forward Alyssa Thompson has been called in to join the U.S. Women’s National Team for Tuesday’s friendly against Ireland.
Thompson, the first pick in the NWSL draft, will replace Mallory Swanson, who left Saturday’s friendly against Ireland with a knee injury. Sunday, U.S. Soccer confirmed that Swanson suffered a torn patella tendon in her left knee.This will be Thompson’s third call-up to the senior national team. She made her debut last October for games against England and Spain. Thompson was also called up for the final games of 2022 against Germany, but didn’t dress.
Thompson and Angel City FC will return to action Saturday at BMO Stadium against Racing Louisville FC.
