A compact, body-on-frame SUV called the 'Land Hopper' could be unveiled in Japan as soon as next month.
The report suggests that a car briefly teased during the Land Cruiser briefing, shown as the silhouette on the left in the photo above, could be a completely new product marketed closer in size to Toyota's current Corolla Cross. The product could be sold with a variety of four-cylinder and four-cylinder hybrid powertrain options and could eventually add a fully-electric battery EV variant, although that would follow after the gas-powered cars.
Those engines would be put on a shortened variant of the GA-F platform, the underpinnings used to make everything from the current Land Cruiser 250 to the new Tundra.notes, the name "Land Hopper" was trademarked in Japan a few days after the presentation where this car was first teased.
