With Warren Washington still out and Devan Cambridge in foul trouble, ASU hung on to edge California 70-62 Saturday at Haas Pavilion to complete the Bay area sweep.

"Coming into it you know there's not a whole lot to gain and a whole lot to lose. In a game like this you might feel like they're going to play freely and having nothing to lose and I don't know if I want to be in a close game with them because we could get tight, just thinking about their record. I don't think that happened. Our guys were pretty clutch down the stretch," Hurley said.

Alonzo Gaffney, who started for Washington in Thursday's win at Stanford, had four points, most notably a put back in overtime that gave the visitors a 61-57 lead. He shot just 2-of-8 from the field but grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds, 10 of those defensive. ASU lead all of the extra period, with Desmond Cambridge sparking the victory, much like he did against the Cardinal earlier in the week. He led all scorers with 24, highlighted by back-to-back buckets that made it 66-60. A driving layup by Frankie Collins later made its 68-62 with 1:10 to go and ASU hung on from there.

Frankie Collins had 10 points but was only 3-for-10 from the field. He snagged a career-high 10 rebounds, a considerable amount for a point guard.
