Carrick said she is running because she wants to help plan for Alaska’s long-term future.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Democrat Ashley Carrick is running for district 35 in the Alaska House.
She said she is running because she wants to help plan for Alaska’s long-term future. “I want to see our community and our state thriving. I love Alaska. I tell people all the time, I’m all in for Alaska because I would rather be in this state on its worst day than anywhere else on it’s best day.” Carrick said she has worked down in the state capital for the last six legislative sessions. “My platform is built around three main goals. One is to provide for a stable and sustainable economic future. The second is to preserve access to education and higher education, and the third goal is to protect the public health, safety, and provide for the wellbeing of Alaskans. Additionally, I hope to bring moderation to Juneau and civility to our discussions around these issues.
She would like to see the state become fiscally solvent and grow its assets. “I also want to start looking for and finding new investments. I think there’s lots of opportunities on the horizon, both with natural resources and with things like the recreational economy. I want to prioritize our K-12 education system through forward funding and ensure stable and predictable funding for higher education.
Carrick is running against Ruben McNeill, Jr., Tim Parker, Kieran Brown and Kevin McKinley in the primary election on August 16.
