Concept art for Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones reveals George Lucas toyed with the idea of a female Sith Lord - Dooku's replacement?
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones almost introduced a female Sith Lord in addition to Count Dooku. The Star Wars prequel trilogy accelerated at an incredible rate in Star Wars: Episode II - The Phantom Menace, with the Sith beginning to emerge from the shadows. The movie introduced countless new characters into the Star Wars galaxy, most notably Count Dooku as Palpatine's apprentice.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The introductions raised a lot of questions, many of which were only explored in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The Sith's schemes were complex, with Palpatine and Dooku working together to orchestrate the conflict between the Republic and the Separatists. Surprisingly, though, Star Wars has revealed there was almost another twist - the introduction of a female Sith.
Attack Of The Clones' Female Sith Lord Revealed The concept art was created by artist Dermot Power, and the most striking images show this female Sith lord holding two lightsabers in a reverse grip. She exudes confidence and grace, even if she also represents the dark side of the Force. Her robes are dark, much like Anakin Skywalker's in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
Dermot Power has published more of this concept art on his website, and some of it is striking in that it is clearly inspired by Darth Vader - with a sweeping black cloak suggesting this could be a traditional Sith design. In one gorgeous sequence, the female Sith is shown tossing aside her robes before crouching down ready to attack. Many will recognize this pose - one that suggests Power's designs had a lasting impact on Star Wars, even if this character was dropped.
Star Wars Honored Attack Of The Clones' Female Sith Design While the female Sith Lord never appeared in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, the design clearly inspired Count Dooku's apprentice Asajj Ventress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Ventress adorns the same pale shaved head as the female Sith Lord in the Attack of the Clones concept art and also wielded twin lightsabers in a reverse grip.
