Aumento de COVID-19 en LAPD y el Departamento del Sheriff tiene a miles de empleados en casa
En promedio, un oficial del LAPD aislado por una infección de coronavirus pierde 20 días de trabajo, y un empleado civil 33 días, agregó Aguilar. Los funcionarios señalaron que esto incluye a algunos empleados con casos de COVID-19 prolongado, que han pasado meses recuperándose.
El miércoles, el Departamento del Sheriff del Condado de Los Ángeles puso en cuarentena a 874 miembros del personal -de aproximadamente 18.000 empleados-, con 618 agentes juramentados entre ellos. El LAPD tuvo un alza en la cantidad de oficiales vacunados y otros empleados que dieron positivo este mes. El 1º de enero, el 22.2 % de quienes dieron positivo estaban vacunados, pero para el 15 de enero esa cifra había aumentado al 43.3 %.
La variante del coronavirus Ómicron está causando más casos entre el personal vacunado, pero también produce síntomas menos graves, remarcaron las autoridades.
