For most, a speeding ticket is an expensive nuisance, but some Avon Lake residents are pushing back on ticketing in a very specific area, claiming the speed limit, not the speeding, is illegal.
AVON LAKE, Ohio -
“The Ohio Department of Transportation sets the speed limit for all state routes; Lake Road is a state route,” said Phillips. “This is an area in Avon Lake known as a speed trap,” said Phillips. “We made a public records request for years 22′, 23′, 24,’ and I don’t know the exact numbers, but over 100.”19 News reached out to the mayor’s office, and law director Gary Ebert responded.
