But it may have taken the Giants' interest to drive his contract into the stratosphere.
Eight years and $300 million as a starting point means that Judge will certainly break Mike Trout's record for a position player's average annual salary. The only questions left are by how much and how soon. MLB's winter meetings start Sunday and run through Dec. 7 in San Diego. All along, the reporting has been that Judge wants to sign sooner rather than later and the ESPN report backed that up, saying that Judge's free agency is"primed to end" at the meetings."Across the industry, the expectation is that Judge re-signs,"It makes sense.
