All of these visual elements highlighted the current state of climate change. The tone of the show was dark and the clothing itself were just as dark too. Leather and black came down the soaked runway in all different forms, from priest-style cloaks and leather coats to oversized outerwear.
"Balenciaga Winter 20 re-contextualizes the structures inherently associated with desire, inverting the values of certain dress codes. The austerity of clerical garb and court robes are interpreted for casual wear," read the show notes. In a sea of black, however, there werehints of color from structured floral dresses with exaggerated shoulders, bright blue/red statement coats, and scuba-style uniforms that made you wonder about the future of our planet.
