A Bartlett man has been indicted by a Kane County grand jury on attempted murder and hate crime charges in the stabbing of a 40-year-old Black man outside an Elgin bar, authorities said. From the Elgin Courier-News.
Jason M. Ostrego, 28, of the 600 block of White Oak Lane, was also indicted on counts of felony armed violence and aggravated battery, according to a news release from the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.
The victim was in a bar when witnesses said Ostrego started arguing, swearing, and shouting racial slurs at him, authorities said. Ostrego was asked to leave the bar and was escorted outside to the parking lot, where he continued to shout slurs, reports stated.
