A security guard at the St. Regis Aspen ski resort in Aspen, Colorado, was injured Monday when a bear that had snuck into the resort’s kitchen attacked him.
The bear attacked the guard as he came around a corner, Colorado Parks & Wildlife said in a release Tuesday, knocking him to the ground and leaving him with scratches on his back. The guard was able to escape and call 911. He was treated at a local hospital and released Tuesday morning. The bear was spotted later Tuesday near the hotel, which had been closed since Sunday for renovations, but the animal is still on the loose after wildlife offices were unable to tranquilize and capture the creature.
