Using insurance data, Houston comes out with 9th best drivers among 70 largest cities. The data, however, might not tell the story of how good a driver someone is.
This may come as a huge shock to anyone who has been in an automobile or truck on a Houston highway, who has seen, tires roll off questionably-inspected cars or a driver in front of them turn on their left blinker and then dart three lanes to the right.
It just might not be a fair comparison, considering California – where many of the worst drivers reside according to the study – outlaws cell phone use while driving and enforces DUIs with sobriety checkpoints and red light running with cameras . It’s likely that means California cops rack up more citations.
Here’s the thing: I was raised in Louisville. I learned to drive in Louisville. I committed hundreds, if not thousands, of driving violations while living in Louisville. I was cited maybe seven times. I was convicted zero times, at least of anything considered a moving violation. To the fine people of Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance, I was a model driver.
